Balmoral Golf Club
Nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Royal Balmoral Golf Club offers a golfing experience steeped in history, heritage, and royal charm. With a newly designed badge celebrating its NEW royal status and updated signage across the estate, the club proudly embraces its prestigious identity.
A Course Like No Other
Though modest in size, this nine-hole course with 18 tees offers a unique challenge on each loop. Measuring 4,825 yards (par 67) for men and 4,459 yards (par 68) for women, the course is as scenic as it is strategic.
The opening hole, Victoria and Albert, is a 272-yard par 4 flanked by statues of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert—guardians of the fairway. A sundial nearby, gifted to Princess Elizabeth in 1947, adds a timeless touch.
Royal Footsteps on the Fairways
Over the years, the course has welcomed many royal players, including Princes William and Harry, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Zara Phillips, and Mike Tindall. Their presence adds to the club’s storied legacy.
A Clubhouse Full of Character
The Queen’s Pavilion, the club’s wooden clubhouse, is a treasure trove of memorabilia. Pride of place goes to the Bill Thow Putter, commemorating a legendary member who played from 1931 to 1996 and once held the course record.
A Walk Through History
From the second tee, players can glimpse Crathie Kirk, while the course itself weaves in and out of the Balmoral Estate. The fifth hole marks your return to the estate, passing through a gate with a handle specially installed for Queen Elizabeth II’s horseback rides.
The sixth hole runs alongside estate cottages, including the childhood home of current men’s captain George Davidson, who fondly recalls playing football on the fairways as a boy.
